MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform repairs and provide preventive maintenance
- Provide technical support and decision-making during breakdown situations
- Trouble shoot processing equipment as needed
- Provide electrical services for machinery in accordance to the local codes and standards
- Inspect all electrical installation, specifically transformers and switch gears
- Provide written reports of work required for repairs and upgrades
- Maintain all electrical wiring and switch gears such as to ensure operator safety and machine integrity
- Collaborate and cooperate with millwrights to speed up repair and maintenance
- Install and commission new machinery
- Provide leadership and training for junior electricians
- Set up and tear down processes of equipment
- Work closely with production supervisors to schedule machine down time for major repairs
- Work in a professional manner and with a positive and helpful mindset
- Strong awareness of health and safety issues; showing responsibility for oneself and others
- Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor
COMPETENCIES (Behavioral & Technical Skills)
- Good understanding of AC and DC motors
- Excellent knowledge of VFD, servo motors and servo drives
- Working knowledge of PLC and computerized machinery is an asset
- Proven ability to work independently and plan priorities
- Ability to work in team-based environment and also work independently in a proactive manner
- Understand preventive maintenance concepts and computerized work order systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide quality customer service
- Has a “Safety first and always” attitude towards work, oneself, and the colleagues
- Must be able to work together with team members of other trades and share the workload
- All employees are responsible for food and safety quality
- All employees are responsible to report food safety and quality problems to personnel
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Electrician ticket and minimum four years of industrial experience and PLC programming certificate/ training, or
- Electrical and or electronic training at college or university level and three years of practical experience in food processing plants.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to work in high places
- Bending and twisting
- Ability to remain standing for several hours
- Ability to crouch down in tight restricted areas
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, cold/hot vice versa
- Wet / slippery floors
- Ability to work around hot water
- High noise area
- Ability to work around moving conveyors, forklifts, and equipment
- Damp working environment
- Must wear personal protective equipment as required

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $40.00 per hour
