density polyethylene facer with an advanced butyl rubber adhesive to create a Commercial Grade Vapor Barrier with significantly increased adhesion performance and a slip-resistant embossed walking surface.
FT Block-Aide is designed to be self-adhered directly to a properly prepared; steel, gypsum, cement board, concrete, OSB, or plywood roof deck. Its main function is to serve as a full-coverage vapor barrier as part of a roof assembly. Block-Aide can be used as a temporary roof membrane for up to 90 days.

Shelf life of up to 18 months can be expected if FT Block-Aide is stored in the provided poly bag upright in a well ventilated area at room temperature between 60°F (15°C) and 80°F (26°C). If product has been stored at a higher temperature above 90°F (32°C) it may become difficult to remove the release liner backing. To correct this, move product to a cooler location. Once cooled, the release liner can be easily removed. If product is to be stored temporarily on the roof deck prior to installation. Store rolls up-right and protected from weather with an opaque light colored tarp. Do not double stack more than 2 pallets high.
FT Block-Aide is designed to be self-adhered directly to a properly prepared; steel, gypsum, cement board, fully cured concrete, OSB, or plywood roof deck. Its main function is to serve as a full coverage vapour barrier and secondary waterproofing layer as part of a roof assembly. Block-Aide can be used as a temporary roof membrane where positive slope allowing drainage is present and is UV exposure rated for up to 90 days.
FT Bock-Aide can be applied at ambient temperatures as low as 25°F (-4°C) provided it has been ambient heated to room temperature 68°F (20 °C) before application. Substrate should be clean, free of loose materials or contaminants such as water or grease that may compromise the performance of the adhesive. It is recommended that all substrates be primed with a water or solvent based primer that meets ASTM D41 for self-adhesive membranes prior to application. For optimum adhesion cover primed surfaces with the self adhered membrane the same day as application. In the case of metal decks if the surface can be cleaned to like new condition and the surface is dry and above 25°F (-4°C) then a primer may not be required.
Install FT Block-Aide with a minimum overlap of 3” on the side laps and 6” on end laps. To begin start at the bottom of the roof slope and unroll Block-Aide membrane onto the substrate. Then align the membrane before removing the release liner. When installing FT Block-Aide on a corrugated metal roof align the roll parallel to the metal flutes to ensure all 3” side laps will be supported underneath along one of the flutes for the entire length of the application. Once aligned peel back the release liner on one end and attach it to the substrate. Then remove the rest of the liner by pulling at a 45 degree angle being careful to avoid wrinkles in the membrane. For end laps a thin sheet of flat metal should be placed under the lap to ensure a flat surface for best joint adhesion. Stagger end laps by a minimum of 12 inches. For best results the entire membrane including the overlaps should be rolled with a minimum 75lb (34kg) roller to ensure product is fully mated to the substrate. When installing directly over a metal deck brooming the sheet is acceptable, however seams should still be rolled.

As with any roofing product, always follow safe roofing codes & practices (OSHA) and always use and wear fall protection devices when working on roofs. Release liners are slippery and should be removed from work area immediately after application. Use caution when walking or standing on FT Block-Aide as slip resistance may vary with surface conditions, weather, footwear and roof pitch. Failure to use proper safety gear and footwear can result in serious injury.
